The area has its own “micro climate” and is one of Spain’s mostly dry and sunny.

The area and Tortosa are mentioned in the history. “Hannibal” gathered his troops here before the invention of Rome.

Ebro Delta has a large production of rice and, together with the Mediterranean gives the air humidity. Here also is a large Natural Park with among others Flamingoes and very rich fishing from the beach. The Ebro river has a famous cat fishing and excursion possible by vessel. The city of Tortosa writes its history back to the time of Christ. A huge fort, the old town and the cathedral is worth a visit. Many good shops and a lively arts scene. The narrow mountain road via “Col de Alba” with its landscape and views are a “must”!.Only within 1 hour (45 km) you are at the top of the nearest mountain 1447 m. in the National Park with a dramatic view.

“Parque Natural del Delta del Ebro” 7 km from Casita Buen Viento

Considered the second most important wetland for waterfowl, the Delta del Ebro, 25 km into the Mediterranean Sea, sharing with two other large deltas, the Nile and the Rhone.

The interior of the Delta del Ebro, crossed by the river that gave its name to the Iberian Peninsula, is strewn with a complex of permanent brackish lagoons, marshes halophytes, salt ponds, marine bays, sandy beaches with dunes and a wide expanse of rice fields represent a wide range of freshwater.

The route proposed, will travel by road and track discontinuous areas of the reserve. The starting point will Fascia, where in Roman times the mouth of a navigable estuary stood up Tortosa.

We take the N-340 to enter St. Carles de la Rapita is the road to take us round the Gulf of Alfas until Poblano Delta and the first coastal lagoons, L’Encanyissada, where the eco museum is home Whip, and The Tancada.

In these gaps will stop, and from the tower of wildlife viewing, we can admire in their open water, as living mallards, whistling, friezes, Garganeys and sympathetic Shovelers.

The lagoon of La Tancada allows us the opportunity to walk along the beach to the salt Trabucador Trinitat, which are almost always populated by beautiful pink flamingos. Here the sand bar tip of Banya, spectacular from the morphological point of view, but without access to the public for peace of wildlife begins.

“El Parque Natural de Els Ports”

40 km from Casita Buen Viento is an abrupt massif with well developed with many types of trees, thanks to the particular rainfall in the area woodlands. Northern trees appear as beech and oak. The avifauna is characterised, therefore, by mixing rock species and Mediterranean dry environments with other Central European species.

This imposing massif stands in contrast with the flat landscape around them. They are mountains that reach 1,000 m altitude, with Mont Caro as highest peak (1,442 m).

It’s a fairly vertical relief with lots of canyons, narrow valleys, cliffs, spires and cliffs where it is still easy to find examples of ibex.

The vegetation consists essentially extensive pine forests of black pine, Scots pine, pine and oak forests. Other deciduous vegetation is smaller and are located in the wetter parts.

This is of special interest the diversity of prey, with rock birds as some species of vulture, eagle and hawk, and the presence of Mediterranean scrub environments birds or dry forests.

The proximity to the Ebro delta, which is has a good perspective from the Ports massif, can combine a visit to the two areas in a few days. (+) See details and map Link: (+) Ver los detalles
